The Silly Season Starts
Ready for a roller coaster ride? This one should be relatively
mild, and preparation makes it really pretty easy. Mercury enters
Sagittarius Nov. 4 at 7:40 A.M., and it’s not his favorite
place to be. Mercury rules minutiae, facts, figures, short travels,
and direct messages. Quite the opposite, Sagittarius is about theories,
long trips, and mass media. It’s easy now for important details
to get lost in overly broad visions. Stay focused, pay attention,
and you could in fact help get a good idea of how the details fit
better into the broader vision.
Any sort of writing, from letters and holiday cards to fiction
to computer code, filing, organizing, travel plans and travel itself,
commuting (Oh, those oxymoronic Muni schedules!) should get more
than usual attention and more than usual leeway. After November
11 pay special attention. Mercury turns retrograde on November 30
and will back up to where he was on the 11th bringing any errors
and glitches – especially those made since that date –
into your face. After he turns direct on December 19, solutions
to those problems will come much more easily.
 ARIES
(March 20 — April 19):
Your mind is pulling you off in a lot of different directions.
With some focus and discipline you could actually learn something!
Nothing wrong if you just play with a lot of notions that may fall
into place later, and experiment with new ideas in the meantime.
Enjoy talking with people with diverse backgrounds and philosophies.
Better yet, enjoy listening to them!
 TAURUS
(April 20–May 20):
Have you ever had sex on a roller coaster? Your sexual ideas –
never mind your experiences – over the next couple of months
could qualify. You’re up for adventures and new opportunities,
but please think ahead! By next month you’ll be wondering
how and why you did what you did. Damage from unsafe sex and/or
drug adventures can be irreversible. The rest you can chalk up to
a learning experience. Don’t be timid, but do be safe and
sensible!
 GEMINI
(May 21 — June 20):
Arguments with your partner are nearly inevitable. Keep them principled
and open-minded, so you can learn things that will in the long run
improve your relationship. The next two months will be rocky, bus
so is a good wilderness expedition. Stay committed to honest openness
and it should all work out for the best. The single twin could find
crazy arguments a good opening to true love, as in the old screwball
comedies.
 CANCER
(June 21 — July 22):
Guard your health. The season and the stars are both making you
vulnerable to colds and any other contagious respiratory ailment.
Stay well bundled and busy. Problems at work will arise in December,
but paying attention to details now will help head those off. New
techniques and associations are the likeliest source of those problems,
but with a few adjustments down the road they can still prove advantageous
in the long run.
 LEO
(July 23 — Aug. 22):
The holiday season is your opportunity to shine, but all that glitters
may not put you in the best light! Have contingencies ready for
all possible snafus in your plans. Murphy’s law goes into
high gear in December and anything you set up now will likely go
kerblooey then. Pay attention to details, and be ready to be very
flexible!
 VIRGO
(Aug 23–Sept. 22) :
Pay very close attention to any problems at home. Solutions reached
this month will likely lead to complications in December, but housecleaning
now will help to simplify the situation. Just help. You’ll
still find yourself cleaning up messes later on, but by the time
the holidays are over everything could be better than ever.
 LIBRA
(Sept. 23 — Oct. 22):
Get an early start on your holiday greetings, as in December they
will run into all kinds of snafus. Now at least you’re in
an ideal situation to get and receive correspondences and calls.
Any family plans should be settled now, especially with siblings.
There will be adjustments to haggle over later, but the clearer
you have roles and duties defined now, the fewer problems you’ll
face down the road.
 SCORPIO
(Oct. 23 — Nov. 21):
Get your finances in order, prepare for your holiday shopping,
make plans, but make them very flexibly. The more you can get done
by the tenth, the better off you’ll be when things start going
a bit haywire in December. At some point sit down and make a list
of priorities in your life. Save it to review once in mid-December
and again after the first of the year.
 SAGITTARIUS
(Nov. 22 — Dec. 20):
New modes of expression come especially easy to you right now.
Your mind is racing in several different directions at once. You
can only get away with that so long before you trip all over yourself,
but that’s next month. To minimize that hassle, think ahead
and try to develop a clear overview so that rather than cleaning
up messes then you can tighten up and make adjustments.
 CAPRICORN
(Dec. 21 — Jan. 19):
Take time out, organize, clean-up, go on a retreat. As much as
possible include a confidant in these activities or at least as
you plan them. We never know all of our own secrets, but now comes
an excellent opportunity for you to get clearer understanding of
yours. That process of self-exploration will run into challenges
and surprises next month; all the more reason to clear the decks
and start dealing with it now.
 AQUARIUS
(Jan. 20 — Feb. 18):
Through these next couple of months you’ll learn who your
real friends are. For now, enjoy the social whirl and broaden your
connections. Consider various plans for your future and discuss
them with different friends; develop a number of alternatives, because
at least one of your plans is sure to collapse in December. So may
some of your friendships, but what friends and plans you’re
left with in the end in will be more reliable.
 PISCES
(Feb. 19 — Mar. 19):
You’re sure to be talked about this month and next. Now it
seems like there’s no such thing as bad publicity and you
may enjoy the attention, but December some of it could turn nasty
so this is the time to be nipping at vicious little buds before
they start growing thorns. Cultivate connections with authorities
and bosses, but don’t be too pushy about it!
